Coolant flows axially through a rotating union into the spindle and toolholder directly to the heat surface. Nearly all modern machine tools and machining centres are equipped with so-called “flood coolant”. High-speed cutting tools require both cooling and lubrication to reduce the rate of tool wear and to prevent over heating which degrades the tool’s strength.
For many machining operations, such as milling or hole drilling, flood-coolant systems are less effective at delivering coolant fluid to the cutting edge. Rota-Tech offers the greatest variety of seal technologies and mounting configurations to fit every machining application requirement.
Rotating Unions may be used to transmit coolant, cutting oil, MQL, pressurized air with or without bearingsupported configuration.
